Since its launch in late 2019, the success of the Peugeot 208 has never waned. The Sochaux-born model even had the luxury of becoming Europe’s best-selling car in 2022, dethroning the long-reigning Volkswagen Golf. But after six years on the road, does it still have what it takes to hold its own against its rivals ?
Peugeot 208: A Bold and Expressive Design
At its unveiling, the second generation of the 208 made a strong impression with a design that broke away from its predecessor. Gone was the conservative look—its silhouette became more muscular and sportier. The long hood, the 1.43-meter height, and the triple-claw light signature all reinforce its bold character. The subtle crease on the rear quarter panel is a nod to its grandmother, the iconic Peugeot 205 — the brand’s legendary “sacred number.
Launched at the end of 2023, the facelifted version asserts its identity with a new grille and fresh color options. At a time when many city cars are trying to blend in, the Peugeot 208 stands out with its distinctive style.

A cabin designed with driving in mind
A success on the outside, the 208 also sets the tone inside. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the quality of the finish is top-notch. In front of the driver, you’ll find the now well-known i-Cockpit, featuring a digital instrument cluster positioned high up and a compact steering wheel. From the GT trim level onwards, a 3D display is standard, highlighting essential driving information. It’s a real safety asset that helps keep your eyes on the road.
At the rear, the cabin space is adequate, although legroom is a bit tight. On this point, the Volkswagen Polo does better. The trunk offers 352 liters in the petrol version and 309 liters in the electric model, which is about average for the segment.

Driving pleasure: a priority for the Peugeot 208
Since the famous 205, through the 206 and 207, Peugeot’s small cars have always been loved for their driving pleasure. The 208 continues this legacy with a precise and agile chassis that ensures excellent stability in all conditions.
The compact, flat-bottomed steering wheel enhances the feeling of agility behind the wheel. Paired with smooth and precise electric power steering, it makes driving especially enjoyable—whether on winding mountain roads or in the city.

Comfortable both in the city and on the highway, the 208 is a true all-rounder that adapts to all types of journeys. Under the hood, the lioness offers a range of powertrains with outputs from 100 to 156 horsepower, including petrol, hybrid, and electric versions, designed to suit every type of driver.
