We’ve been waiting for months, this time it’s finally here ! Volkswagen unveils its brand new ID. Polo, its new 100% electric city car directly inspired by the ID. 2all concept. The German newcomer arrives with a clear ambition: to offer an electric car suited for everyday use, all at relatively accessible prices.
With its clean design, a claimed range of up to 450 km, and a cleverly designed interior, the ID. Polo is ready to win over a wide audience. On paper, the little ant checks all the right boxes. But will it be able to compete with the heavyweights of the electric city‑car market ?
A simple design, yet refined down to the smallest details
The Volkswagen ID. Polo positions itself in the B‑segment, with a length of 4.05 meters. It maintains an ideal format — compact enough for city outings, yet stable and composed enough to offer true versatility on the road.
Its slightly sculpted fenders, widened wheel arches, and lowered stance give it a more robust look than the petrol Polo. Volkswagen doesn’t forget its DNA, keeping its famous C‑pillar inspired by older Golfs. A subtle nod that recalls the brand’s heritage.
The light signature, both front and rear, enhances the model’s modernity. LED strips, illuminated logo, sharp gaze — day or night, it’s hard not to notice it.
For drivers looking for even more character, you’re in luck! The wheels can reach up to 19 inches on certain versions , just like its Spanish cousin, the Cupra Raval. And that’s only the beginning. The upcoming GTI promises to go even further with an even more spirited personality.

A cabin designed to simplify everyday life
Inside, Volkswagen has corrected several points that were criticized on previous models. Starting with the return of physical buttons, especially on the steering wheel and below the central screen, replacing the touch controls that were considered impractical.
The driver can now manage multimedia, activate or deactivate functions like cruise control easily without taking their eyes off the road. The volume dial, placed between the smartphone tray and the cupholders, remains easily accessible for both the driver and the front passenger.
The interface gains modernity thanks to two screens positioned in front of the driver, including a central display. The onboard atmosphere aims to be bright and welcoming, supported by a panoramic roof and a spacious cabin made of 100% recycled materials. A notable innovation for a small city car: some versions of the ID. Polo offer electric seats with a massage function. A rare feature in this segment and a real plus for long journeys!
The ID. Light system adds an extra touch of modernity. Integrated at the base of the windshield, it displays information in the driver’s field of vision, such as navigation cues, alerts, or assistance indications. Practical for more relaxed daily driving.
If you want to impress your passengers during night outings, the Ambient Light feature lets you customize the interior lighting with various colors available, whether on the dashboard or along the doors.
The cockpit includes a few retro nods, such as a reimagined cassette player or vintage‑inspired stickers paying homage to old car radios.
A major highlight: the ID. Polo offers space worthy of the segment above. The electric ant provides five true seats and excellent rear room, both for legs and elbows. Its 435‑liter trunk, more generous than that of the Renault 5 E‑Tech, will easily carry your luggage or groceries.

A wide range of powers
On the technical side, ID. Polo uses the MEB+ electric platform. , which improves the interior space, behavior and efficiency of the vehicle.
The range will be focused on several engines :
- 116 horsepower, the entry-level version, ideal for urban use
- 135 horsepower, for optimal versatility
- 211 horsepower, for those looking for a dynamic ride
To this will be added a GTI version of 226 horsepower, intended for drivers in search of sportiness. The GTI will be equipped with a 54 kWh battery, with a given WLTP range of about 450 km. Its fast charging up to 130 kWh will allow you to go from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes. This ID. Polo GTI will become the most powerful of the range, while waiting for a future even more radical “R” version.
On the battery side, ID. Polo will offer two capacities. A first of 37 kWh perfect for daily trips and another of 52 kWh, for drivers who want to move without worrying about autonomy.
With up to 450 km WLTP range and fast charging up to 105 kW, the ID. Polo is perfectly suited for long journeys.
Also, it comes with many driving aids, such as the Travel Assist, which offers semi-autonomous driving and will manage for you the speed, distances, and even the adaptation of the light beam at night. The remote Park Assist allows you to park the car automatically. Convenient for difficult parking in the city center.
A rather rare detail about this type of vehicle, The ID. Polo offers the possibility to tow up to 1,200 kg thanks to its hitch system.
Produced in Spain, in Martorell, alongside the Cupra Raval, this electric city car comes to compete with models already well established as the Renault 5 E-Tech, or the Peugeot e-208.
Finally, the ID. Polo will soon be marketed from €25,000, a competitive rate that could attract new customers ready to take the plunge into 100% electric. One thing is certain, this ID. Polo has everything it takes to become one of the segment’s key references !
