The official unveiling of the new ID.Polo is just around the corner! While we wait for the final reveal, the all-electric little car is showing off its interior. Highly anticipated in the electric city car market, it will be positioned next spring alongside the current petrol-powered Polo. Its mission will be to convince future drivers to make the switch to electric.
A Dashboard with Retro Looks
As soon as the doors open, the family resemblance with the larger Tiguan and T-Roc is immediately obvious. The horizontal dashboard is complemented by a large 13-inch touchscreen that houses all the infotainment functions.
True to Volkswagen’s spirit, the interior feels pleasant, and the ergonomics are particularly well thought out. The ID.Polo abandons the touch controls on the steering wheel in favor of physical buttons that are easier to use and retains controls for the ventilation.
Like its competitors, Volkswagen is riding the retro wave. The ID.Polo features multiple nods to the first Golf. The 10.25-inch display behind the steering wheel can, via the dropdown menu, switch to retro mode, recreating the graphics of 1980s instrument panels. The radio even turns into an analog-style model, with a small cassette appearing on the screen and a red line moving across the FM frequencies.
The navigation, meanwhile, features a map with a folded and creased paper look, evoking long road trips of the past. With this new ID.Polo, Volkswagen offers a vehicle with well-thought-out ergonomics, highlighted by a small but highly successful touch of nostalgia.

A Warm Atmosphere and Recycled Materials
The ID.Polo focuses on a cozy and bright atmosphere. On its upper surfaces, the electric city car forgoes the usual hard black plastics in favor of fabric coverings, which are very pleasant to the touch. Aware of environmental concerns, Volkswagen uses materials made from recycled plastics, as well as Seaqual yarn, produced from plastic waste recovered from the seas and oceans.
Thanks to a 2.60-meter wheelbase, the ID.Polo offers generous space for its passengers. The trunk is also notable, with a capacity of 435 liters. It offers 100 liters more than its main rival, the Renault 5 Electric!

Top-Level Range… but a Higher-Than-Expected Price
In addition to an attractive interior, the little Volkswagen boasts the best certified range in the electric city car segment.
At launch, the ID.Polo will offer three power levels (116, 135, and 211 hp) and two types of battery. The 37 kWh LFP battery provides 300 km of WLTP range and supports 90 kW fast charging. The second, a more powerful 52 kWh NMC battery, allows up to 450 km of range. Its 130 kW charging capability enables a 10 to 80% charge in just 23 minutes!
In terms of pricing, the Volkswagen ID.Polo will start at around €30,000, slightly above the initially announced €25,000. Higher-end versions will be launched first in spring 2026, while the entry-level model, delayed due to a battery supply issue, is expected to arrive in the last quarter of 2026.
Despite this setback, the new ID.Polo looks very promising. The German model could very well dethrone the Renault 5 E-Tech as the best-selling electric car in France, and even in Europe!
