New Volkswagen Polo: combination of experience and technology

An awaited fourth generation of the VW Polo.

Forty-six years, that’s how old it is! Eighteen million is the total number of VW Polo models sold since its release! That’s a long way from the days when it was the “little ant of Volkswagen”. Today, the VW Polo is one of the most attractive compact cars. With a strong design, the new Polo is packed with high-tech features. For the first time, the car is equipped with the IQ Drive Travel Assit technology. A partially automated driving system and “IQ.Light” LED matrix headlamps. A digital model, and always connected, with its “Digital Cockpit”. This new Volkswagen Polo has an online infotainment system. Note that the touch-sensitive air conditioning control is optional. A front design, with new bumpers, highlighted by a new light signature. LED headlights and LED rear light clusters.

New motorizations for the new Volkswagen Polo

The new Volkswagen Polo shows its ambitions with a wide range of engines, including five gasoline engines. These develop a power of 59 kW (80 hp), 70 kW (95 hp) and 81 kW (110 hp). Thus, the 95 hp engine is combined with an optional 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG). The 110 hp engine will be available with DSG only. The VW Polo will be available with the 1.0 TGI engine (monovalent drive and natural gas and gasoline). Finally, the 1.0-liter TGI engine develops 66 kW (90 hp). All of these engines offered are three cylinders of 999 cm³. Starting with the 95 hp engine, a turbocharger is part of the engine block.

Finishes and colors

An interior that lives up to expectations at VW.

Volkswagen has reviewed its range of finishes to make it clearer and has integrated the equipment favored by the majority of buyers. The hierarchy of versions is as follows: “Polo”, “Life”, “Style” and “R-Line”. Volkswagen has planned a GTI version of this icon in these finishes.

The new VW Polo will offer eight different colors. Solid colors “Ascot Grey” (new) and “Pure White”. The metallic paints are “Reflexsilber”, “Smoke Grey” (new), “Reef Blue”, the sporty “King Red” (new), “Vibrant Violet”. There is also a pearlescent paint, “Deep Black”. The new Volskwagen Polo will be in car dealerships in the fall.
